How to Apply for CHED CoScho Scholarship 2024-2025

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) in partnership with the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) is pleased to announce the opening of applications for the CHED CoScho Scholarship program for the academic year 2024-2025. Designed to support and uplift coconut farming communities in the Philippines, this scholarship offers a range of benefits to eligible Filipino students. Application is open until May 31, 2024.

What is the CHED CoScho Scholarship Program?

The CHED CoScho Scholarship program, which stands for Scholarships for Coconut Farmers and their Families, is an initiative by the Commission on Higher Education in the Philippines. As the governing body responsible for ensuring the quality of the country’s college education system, CHED aims to empower and uplift coconut farming communities through this scholarship.

Benefits of the CHED CoScho Scholarship

Under the CHED CoScho scholarship, students will receive a total of ₱195,000 in scholarship benefits. These benefits are divided into regular allowances and other essential allowances.

Regular Allowances

Scholars will receive a ₱80,000 regular allowance, which covers various expenses throughout the academic year. This includes a stipend of ₱35,000 per semester or ₱70,000 per academic year. The stipend can be used for food, projects, educational tours, transportation, medical insurance, internet use, and communication expenses. Additionally, scholars will receive a books and learning materials allowance of ₱5,000 per semester or ₱10,000 per academic year.

Other Allowances

Aside from the regular allowances, scholars will also receive a total of ₱115,000 as other allowances. This includes a ₱75,000 allowance for thesis and/or on-the-job training (OJT) expenses. Scholars will also receive a one-time attendance allowance of ₱10,000 for participation in local conferences or fora related to their undergraduate program. This allowance should be availed during the junior or senior standing and should not be used for activities in the same higher education institution (HEI) where the beneficiary is enrolled. Furthermore, scholars will receive a one-time financial assistance of ₱30,000 for the purchase of a laptop, which will be given during the first year of the scholarship grant.

How to Apply

To apply for the CHED CoScho Scholarship, eligible Filipino students can visit the CHED website and follow the application guidelines. The application period for the AY 2024-2025 is now open, and interested students are encouraged to submit their applications before the deadline.

Eligibility Criteria

Here are some of the qualifications needed to apply scholarship:

  1. He or She must be a Filipino Citizen,
  2. Graduate with a general weighted average grade (GWA) of 85% the previous semester or its equivalent,
  3. He or she must pass the entry-level requirements of identified state Universities and Colleges (SUCs)
  4. He or she must not be enjoying any government-founded financial assistance program.
  5. Dully registered coconut farmer in the NCFRS or He or She dependent and
  6. Must have an annual gross income of parents not exceding PHP300,000.00.

Documentary Requirements to apply?

Here is the list of Documentary Requirements to apply for the Scholarship:

  1. Birth Certificate issued by the Philippines Statistics Authority,
  2. Academic
    • For Senior High School students – A duly certified true copy of grades for Grade 11 and first Semester for Grade 12.
    • For Senior High School Students Graduates – Form 138
  3. PCA Certification only one family member shall be allowed to apply for the Scholarship,
  4. Should have a certificate of Good moral character from the last school attended,
  5. Proof of income Certificate any of the following:
    • Latest Income Tax Return (ITR) of the applicant and spouse, parents or guardians if employed,
    • Certificate of Tax from the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR),
    • Certificate of Indigency. It should indicate the purpose and the annual income.
  6. Notice of admission from the HEI with Collegiate degree offerings,
  7. Proof that the student applicant belonged to special groups (If applicable),
  8. Original Barangay Certificate that parent or Guardians and Siblings had never attended College/University – If Applicable.

Return Service

One (1) year per year of scholarship in the Philippines is required within two (2) years after graduation prioritizing:

  1. government agencies directly working with the coconut industry;
  2. other government agencies; and
  3.  private entities related to the Philippine Coconut Industry.
